Learning prepositions through play: A digital memory adventure

This activity will be made in a 2nd of Primary class. It will take 25 minutes, but previously we will have being working on the differnt contents. This is an activity which objective is to revise the content learned previously.

The activity uses ICT to promoto  engagement, autonomous learning, and interactive practice, supporting students’ digital competence as required in the primary curriculum.

CONTENTS

It is focused on the prepositions of place: in, on, under, next to/by, in front of, behind and between. They will work on simple sentence structures such as The cat is under the table.

As for the vocabulary, it includes, classroom objects, animals and furnitre.

PEDAGOGICAL EXPLANATION

I have chosen this activity since it helps students learn in a meaningful way, learning new content while playing. At this age, they benefit from visual and concrete representations of language, and this activity has the content needed, but it is simple and easy to understand.

It is a good way of learning, as it relates content with real life situations and concepts.

The memory-matching format helps students develop their visual memory, their attention, and their cognitive flexibility.

Using ICT tools makes students be more motivated, and it supports different learning styles, making this follow the DUA principles. It also allows immediate feedback so they can see their progress, and we, as teachers, too.

Finally, describing where the objects are placed helps pupils develop communication skills and spatial awareness.

Because of all this, I consider this activity really useful and easy to carry on.
