My path, my passions, my story

Hi blog, I am "Leirica" for my father's family, "Pimpollo" for my aunty, "Eie" for some little kids... but for most people my name is Leire.  I am now studying for becoming a teacher next year, which is something that I am really excited about. I have dreamt with becoming a teacher since I was 7. And during the years I have discovered that it is what makes me happy. I have been doing many volunteerings where I have learnt a lot and in which I have confirmed that I want to dedicate my life to educating kids.  Regarding my free time. I would say that currently, I am volunteer monitor of a free time group, in which I spent quite a lot of my free time. But, in the rest of my free time I like to spend it with my familly and friends, they are a key part of my life. I also like listening to music  and watching TV (now I am watching for 8th time Castle). I also enjoy doing hiking, but I don't do it usually, as I don't have enough time.  As I have menti...

Symbaloo: The heart of my digital learning process

INITIAL SYMBALOO We have only been in this course for a few days, and we have been asked to create a Symbaloo. We need to organize the resources we use for learning, and later on, we will add new ones. I decided to divide it this way because in the middle it is Google, which is the tool I use to access all the others, and on the sides I placed the different tools I use. In the pink square, we have the creation apps. To create original and creative designs, I really like Canva, although I have also used Genially sometimes. I also use Word and PowerPoint very regularly. The blue square contains games: I have always used Kahoot, but I consider that I must start using others, so this is the reason why I have left some spaces.  In the green square, we have the Google tools I use the most. First of all, without any doubt, Google Drive, as I upload all my documents there, and we always use it for group work. Secondly, Gmail, because I use it a lot for everything. Then we have Yo...

Learning prepositions through play: A digital memory adventure

This activity will be made in a 2nd of Primary class. It will take 25 minutes, but previously we will have being working on the differnt contents. This is an activity which objective is to revise the content learned previously.  The activity uses ICT to promoto  engagement, autonomous learning, and interactive practice, supporting students’ digital competence as required in the primary curriculum. CONTENTS It is focused on the prepositions of place: in, on, under, next to/by, in front of, behind and between. They will work on simple sentence structures such as  The cat is under the table. As for the vocabulary, it includes, classroom objects, animals and furnitre.  PEDAGOGICAL EXPLANATION I have chosen this activity since it helps students learn in a meaningful way, learning new content while playing. At this age, they benefit from visual and concrete representations of language, and this activity has the content needed, but it is simple and easy to understand....

Exploring the human body through digital storytelling

¡ Read this book made on StoryJumper This activity is based on the digital story "The human organs" , created with StoryJumper . Students read and listen to the organs narrating their functions and then create a mind map with the different organs and their functions.  This activity is designed for 3rd of primary. At this age, they recognize the body parts in their first language, and they start to do it in English. They are also starting to write and understand complete texts in English. A digital story format supports their understanding through pictures, repetition, and simple sentences. CONTENT They work on science concepts such as organs and functions: t he heart pumps blood. They also learn healthy habits such as drinking water or eating healthy food. This is really important, because they  learn about their body and how to take care of it.  They obviously learn vocabulary in English, and also grammar structures ( I am the heart). Moreover, they practice list...

Developing writing skills through real-life descriptions

EXPLANATION In this activity students have to do different interactive Edcaplay activities, with the final aim to be able to describe a classmate. This final writing will be made in Educaplay as an "open answer" activity.  STEPS AND ACTIVITIES  They will frst start doing a vocabulary review, matching words with their definition, and they also activate descriptive vocabulary. Afterwards, they will play a game to see examples of how to make a description, and they will do it by filling in the blanks in a paragraph To finish, they will have to make a description of one of his or her classmates and give it to us.  PEDAGOGIC JUSTIFICATION This activity follows a task-based-learning approach. Students use the language to solve games in which they are emotionally engaged, as they are having fun while also learning. They use the language to talk about their classmates in a real context, rather than simply copying something without truly learning. Regarding the objective, ...

Active listening, active minds: a fun ICT task

This activity is designed for fourth of primary students. It consists of a dictation created with Educaplay to review hobby vocabulary. PEDAGOGICAL JUSTIFICATION The purpose of this task is to integrate listening in the most fun way possible. For this reason, I decided to create it using the ICT tool Educaplay, as I believe that, although it is not the most entertaining activity, it adds a different element to tit and helps keep students more engaged. In addition, the activity is clear, concise, and easy to complete. Each student can work at their own and listen to each sentence as many times as they need, which respects individual differences and learning rhythms. This task simulates a real-life situation in which a person needs to listen to something, such as a phone call or a YouTube video, making the learning experience meaningful. By requiring a written product after listening, students engage in  productive thinking and language output , fostering deeper learning than passiv...

More than I expected: My journey into educational technology

Well, we could say that this subject is coming to an end. The truth is that I didn’t expect to learn so much about the use of new technologies. We are from a generation that was born with them, but there were so many tools I didn’t know about and now I will definitely use them in my classroom as a teacher. Before taking this course, I thought I knew a lot about the topic, but I really didn’t. I used basic tools like Word or PowerPoint, and I could use Excel… I used platforms like Kahoot and Wayground, and AI tools like QuillBot or ChatGPT, but there were many resources I didn't even know existed. I have learned so much. My learning goes from discovering tools like Educaplay, StoryJumper, Wooclap… which I find super interesting to use with my students; to tools like Symbaloo or Tinywow, which are useful to me as a student, teacher, and person in general, helping me do things more simply and clearly. Besides learning about new tools, I think I have become much more confident when usi...
