Symbaloo: The heart of my digital learning process

 INITIAL SYMBALOO

We have only been in this course for a few days, and we have been asked to create a Symbaloo. We need to organize the resources we use for learning, and later on, we will add new ones.
I decided to divide it this way because in the middle it is Google, which is the tool I use to access all the others, and on the sides I placed the different tools I use.

In the pink square, we have the creation apps. To create original and creative designs, I really like Canva, although I have also used Genially sometimes. I also use Word and PowerPoint very regularly.

The blue square contains games: I have always used Kahoot, but I consider that I must start using others, so this is the reason why I have left some spaces.

In the green square, we have the Google tools I use the most. First of all, without any doubt, Google Drive, as I upload all my documents there, and we always use it for group work. Secondly, Gmail, because I use it a lot for everything. Then we have YouTube, which I also use a lot to watch videos (both for fun and educational objetives) and to show videos to the kids I work with as a monitor or teacher. And I also have Google Calendar that I use it to organize myself.

I included WordReference as a dictionary because it is definitely the one I use the most and I love it.

And finally, I added ChatGPT, because I use it a lot mainly to come up with activities or games to do with my kids, and at university for ideas and index for assignments. However, I believe that overusing it is not good, for example, I would never use it to write an entire assignment.

FINAL SYMBALOO

Regarding the changes, I have added a large number of new resources. I have included them because I feel I have learned a lot and I have also used them, and what's more, I plan to continue using them.

I have also added Quillbot and iLovePDF, which were websites I used before but forgot to include. I wanted to add Tinywow, but it didn’t let me. I would have placed it together with iLovePDF. I discovered this last one recently, and I think it is super useful for everything related to PDFs, PowerPoints, Word documents, etc.

I believe these changes also reflect my improvement as a teacher, since I have discovered many resources to work with my students, and I am very grateful for that.

Exploring the human body through digital storytelling

¡ Read this book made on StoryJumper This activity is based on the digital story "The human organs" , created with StoryJumper . Students read and listen to the organs narrating their functions and then create a mind map with the different organs and their functions.  This activity is designed for 3rd of primary. At this age, they recognize the body parts in their first language, and they start to do it in English. They are also starting to write and understand complete texts in English. A digital story format supports their understanding through pictures, repetition, and simple sentences. CONTENT They work on science concepts such as organs and functions: t he heart pumps blood. They also learn healthy habits such as drinking water or eating healthy food. This is really important, because they  learn about their body and how to take care of it.  They obviously learn vocabulary in English, and also grammar structures ( I am the heart). Moreover, they practice list...

Developing writing skills through real-life descriptions

EXPLANATION In this activity students have to do different interactive Edcaplay activities, with the final aim to be able to describe a classmate. This final writing will be made in Educaplay as an "open answer" activity.  STEPS AND ACTIVITIES  They will frst start doing a vocabulary review, matching words with their definition, and they also activate descriptive vocabulary. Afterwards, they will play a game to see examples of how to make a description, and they will do it by filling in the blanks in a paragraph To finish, they will have to make a description of one of his or her classmates and give it to us.  PEDAGOGIC JUSTIFICATION This activity follows a task-based-learning approach. Students use the language to solve games in which they are emotionally engaged, as they are having fun while also learning. They use the language to talk about their classmates in a real context, rather than simply copying something without truly learning. Regarding the objective, ...
